Why Bother With Digital Learning?John Hattie, author of Visible Learning, points out that the “biggest effects on student learning occur when teachers become learners of their own teaching, and when students become their own teachers”. This allows students to develop ownership over their own learning, and develop cognitive skills such as self-monitoring, self-assessment, and self-teaching.
So how are we going to teach these skills? How are we gong to encourage students to be autonomous critical and innovative thinkers who also reflect over their own learning? Finally and most importantly, how are we as teachers, going to learn new ways of teaching so that it reaches our students? How are we going to empower our students to be leaders in this digital world? |
